Business numbers
The right number for the way you text.
Customers see your number on every message. Choose a local number, a toll-free number, or keep the business number they already know and add texting to it.

| Number | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Local number | Everyday two-way texting with customers in your area. | A US local number used for business texting (often called 10DLC) is registered with the carriers, with your brand and the kind of messages you send, before it sends at scale. |
| Toll-free number | A national presence, and support or alert programs. | Toll-free numbers go through the carriers’ verification for business texting before sending at scale. |
| Your existing landline | Keeping the number already on your sign, cards and website. | Texting is added to the number; calls stay with your current voice provider. |
| Short code | High-volume programs and keyword campaigns. | Each short code program is reviewed by the carriers before launch. Short codes |
Registration and verification are the carriers’ rules for every business sender. Ask us how long each one takes for your program and what information it needs.
Number questions
Can I keep my current business number?
Yes, if it is a landline, VoIP or toll-free number: texting is added without changing your voice service.
Why does registration matter?
Carriers filter business messages from numbers that are not registered or verified, so they may not be delivered. Read more on our compliance page.
